Miss Clarke County Fair Scholarship Pageant

Sunday, August 11, Following Junior Miss Clarke County Fair Contest

Rules and Duties

  1. Each contestant must be a resident of Clarke County.
  2. Each contestant must be at least 16 years of age by August 11, 2013, not over 22 years of age by January 1, 2014, never married, nor had any children. A contestant must be female who has always been female; of good moral character; one that has not at any time been convicted of any crime nor has any criminal charges pending against her; one that has never done any act or engaged in any activity which is or could be characterized as dishonest, immoral, indecent, or in bad taste. This includes information and photos on My Space, Facebook and any web pages or any other electronic means.
  3. Contestants will be judged in Business Attire, Personality Attire, and Evening Gown. Each Contestant will be judged on a platform topic/speech (this is timed, and must be 1 minute, and no less than 55 seconds) along with an interview, and a 25-30 second speech about Clarke County and the Clarke County Fair on stage in personality attire.
  4. The winner will be available the entire week of the 2013 Clarke County Fair to give out ribbons and awards and follow fair schedule of events as needed.
  5. The winner MUST be available to work with Doris Brennen or Dawn McKee to prepare for the Miss Virginia Association of Fairs Pageant.
  6. The winner will compete in January 2014 in the Virginia Association of Fairs Pageant.
  7. The winner will be present at the 2014 Miss Clarke County Fair Pageant.
  8. ALL CONTESTANTS MUST attend 2 of the 3 mandatory practices for the Clarke County Fair Scholarship Pageant, most importantly the final dress rehearsal.
  9. A black & white headshot photo must be emailed to Doris Brennen at CCFairpageants@gmail.com by the application date. If email is not available, a CD with the photo is acceptable.
  10. Although fundraising events will be expected to defer costs of the Miss VAF pageant apparel, please understand there is a financial obligation for pageant formal gown and other outfits as needed.
  11. The winner is expected to sell a full page advertisement for the Miss VAF pageant.
  12. Each contestant is required to submit a black framed (stand-up), black & white photo, to be used in the Photogenic contest.
  13. The winner will receive a $500 scholarship.
  14. Interviews, will be held on Wednesday, August 7th starting at 6:30 in the fair/ticket Office.  All contestants will be given their specific time.  If you have any questions, please contact Doris Brennen at 540-837-1148 or 540-539-3839, or email ccfairpageants@gmail.com.
