H. Brunch for a Bunch Recipe Contest

Prizes:
1st place – A gift basket from the Virginia Egg Council. Eligible to compete at state level.
2nd place – A gift from the Virginia Egg Council. Eligible to compete at state level.
3rd place – A gift from the Virginia Egg Council. Eligible to compete at state level.
Rules:
- Open to any individual who is a Virginia resident; one entry per person. Participant does not have to reside in county where fair is held. Participants are eligible to participate in ONE contest one time.
- Entrant must prepare any type of brunch item that will serve a collection of people. Ex: Savory cheesecake, Deviled eggs, Brunch Casserole, Quiche, Frittata.
- A minimum of 6 large eggs must be used in the entire recipe.
- For cost savings, a recipe making a large quantity may be broken down to fit into a 9x9” container.
- Entry should be presented in a disposable container for judging.
- Recipe must list ingredients in order of use. Preparation instructions, pan size (and type) and cooking time and temperatures, must be included. Written recipe must be printed on one side of page and must be submitted with the baked entry. Reverse side of page must include recipe contestant’s name, address, phone and email address.
- This is an adult competition. Contestants under 18 will be judged as an adult.
- Recipes will become the property of the Virginia Egg Council.
- Exhibits for this competition only will be accepted in the Homemaking Department on Tuesday, August 10th from 8:00 AM- 10:00 AM.
Judging will be based on the following criteria:
Flavor
Texture
Appropriateness of Ingredients for Recipe
Creativity
Appearance
Recipe requirements filled
The top three winners are eligible to compete at the State Fair of Virginia. Prizes at the State Finals: 1st-$375 plus a year’s supply of Eggland’s Best Eggs; 2nd-$250 plus a 6 month’s supply of Eggland’s Best Eggs; 3rd- $125 plus a 6 month’s supply of Eggland’s Best Eggs.
